Brands look to toddlers for big business

With the increase in nuclear families and having one or two kids it has led to a boom in the child care products category. The space that was almost ruled by only known names like Johnsons & Johnsons, is witnessing entry of a lot of domestic as well as international labels vying to capture the pie. To add to this is the rising brand and quality consciousness among parents, increase in disposable incomes, and entry of many labels in the child care sector. The sector is surely showcasing positive signs of tremendous opportunities in 2012.

According to a research report published by RNCOS, India is the most preferred market for the companies involved in baby care product manufacturing and marketing. The physical as well as online shopping platforms boast of various organized baby products stores, showcasing the complete range of toys, soft toys, strollers, walkers, car seats, baby care products, feeding bottles and other feeding gear, nursery furniture, bedroom furniture, baby linen and furnishings, premium party wear, ethnic wear, casual wear, footwear and accessories. Not limited to these products, the various brands also include a wide range of goods for moms-to-be for having a comfortable time during their pregnancy.

Already present in the market are brands such Hauck and Chicco and prominent Indian names Aardee Specials, Lilliput Kidswear, Toon Kidz, Gini & Jony, Lilstop, Zapp baby zap, Mom & me, Mother Care. Kidloo, BabyOye, Hushbabies, Firstcry are a few names active in online stores for babies and kids.
