CMAI’s ‘Fashion Retail Summit’ to focus India opportunities

Wednesday, 01 May 2013

As a part of its ‘Golden Jubilee Celebrations, the Clothing Manufacturers’ Association of India (CMAI) is organising a ‘Fashion Retail Summit’ on, May 8, 2013 in, Mumbai. The summit will showcase opportunities in Indian fashion retail with a 360 degree perspective of all key elements in the value chain.

The theme for the summit is ‘Envisioning the robust growth of fashion retail in India from USD 40 billion to USD 125 billion by 2020’. Top industry experts would come together to network, share ideas and address some crucial questions relating to the future of fashion retail.

The questions include topics like: what has been the experience of international brands coming to India? Is the old axiom of ‘think globally, act locally’ still relevant in today's world? What is the role of Indian brands in the increasingly internationalized market?

This is the second initiative by CMAI in its Golden Jubilee Year. Earlier, in April they had organized an ‘Evening of Celebration’ to honour past presidents. At the glittering function held at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai, P N Amersey, former President of CMAI unveiled the golden jubilee logo marking 50 years of CMAI’s service to the Indian apparel industry. Over 800 members were present at the ceremony.
