Tuesday, 30 November 2010

Ecko Unlimited, the brand of urban lifestyle clothing for men from Marc Ecko has forayed into the heartland of Punjab. They have opened their first exclusive store in Jalandhar in an exclusive tie up with Spencer’s Retail. As part of the Rs 15,500 crores RPG group, Spencer’s Retail is one of the largest multi-format retailers in India on a high growth path with a target of Rs. 1,050 crore sales turnover by the end of the current fiscal. With the entry of Ecko Unlimited men's urban clothing line and Ecko Red for women - both well-known brands - Spencer’s Retail expects to achieve its target figures.

Anurag Rajpal, VP (apparel), Spencer’s Retail says they are planning wide expansion across the Punjab region both in the form of company owned outlets and franchisees. After Jalandhar, they will be launching stores in Chandigarh and other cities in couple of months. Eventually they will set up a footprint in all the districts of Punjab and have multiple outlets in all the prominent towns of Punjab.
The Punjab plans would entail an investment of over Rs 10 crores in the next couple of months. Having set foot in India in August 2010 with the launch of its first showroom in New Delhi’s DLF Promenade as part of its exclusive tie up with Spencer’s Retail,  Ecko Unltd and Ecko Red are targeting the urban youth on the lookout for international, trend and edgy fashion. Popular since the late 1990s, the company has moved into the mainstream urban culture in the early 2000s and has now expanded to include 12 lines which are doing well in many countries across the world.
