India?s largest retailer Future Group is eyeing sales of almost Rs 840 crores pan India during the Great Indian Shopping Festival 2010 which began from April 17. The event being organized at all Future Group retail formats is expected to register 30 million footfalls. The previous such shopping fest in December 2008 saw sales of Rs 700 crores and 25 million footfalls. Since markets are on the upturn now, at least 20 per cent growth is expected this time round. The retail major has a total 16 million sq. ft. spread across India in 73 cities and 65 rural areas.
Future Group?s various formats include Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar, Pantaloons, Central, HomeTown and eZone, besides Brand Factory, Indigo Nation, Celio, Staples, Mother Earth, among others. The group?s innovative and profitable strategies have made a tremendous impact on the retail sector over the years. Its approach is consumer-centric and they have made shopping a pleasurable experience, with a host of freebies thrown in. Buyers? flock its formats and conversion rates have shown a significant rise after the downturn, over the last one and a half years.
