After recovering from health problems Rohit Bal aka Gudda is on high these days. His show at the recent Men’s Fashion Week held in Delhi received a huge round of applause. Bal who has designed those spiffy clothes Amitabh Bachchan wears on Kaun Banega Crorepati will now design rugs and carpets for a brand which he won’t name. It is supposed to be the second biggest in the world in this area. Having already launched a range of men’s perfume, he will have something for women too. His restaurant chain Veda which is at Mumbai and Delhi will soon open at Kolkata. Incidentally, Bal is the first Indian designer to be appointed by the second largest carpet manufacturers in the world to design an exclusive range of rugs and carpets. And he sure is elated about it. He says he will design rugs, carpets other works and is looking forward to doing it even though it’s a time consuming project.

The flamboyant designer suffered a heart attack in February 2010 but since then has bounced back to action, designing sleek sarees for Deepika Padukone in which she walked down the Chivas Red Carpet in Cannes. Meanwhile Bal is all set to relaunch his watch range with a fresh set. In 2003-04, he had signed up with Titan and released a solid gold watch range, embellished with diamonds and other precious stones, in the luxury segment called Nebula.
