Lakme Week from Sept. 17

The Lakme Fashion Week Winter (LFW), one of India’s most prestigious fashion and trade event, is slated to take place between September 17 to 21. Over the years the event has got a tremendous response from designers and the number of applications has gone up this year. Designers from 34 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Surat, Ludhiana, Udaipur, Kochi and Rishikesh have put in their applications to showcase their collections at the event. Lured by the opportunities in the fashion industry LFW Winter 2010 season has seen an unprecedented 172 Gen Next applications, marking a growth of 81 per cent and 92 emerging designer applications recording a hike of 44 per cent as compared to last season.

In the first decade, LFW introduced the Gen Next and emerging designer platform with the vision of bringing to the forefront great minds and encouraging new talent. LFW Winter and Festive 2010 season will weave in the importance of Indian festivals and the fashion that is prevalent in Indian society during the these months. LFW is jointly organized by Lakme, a leader in cosmetics and beauty space in India and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production.
