Lakmé Fashion Week, India’s premier fashion and trade event has announced the names of designers participating in the Gen Next and young designer categories for LFW Summer/Resort week. The event will be held from March 1 to March 6, 2012 in Mumbai. The platform has always inspired and promoted new and young talent every season.

This season’s new initiatives would include a day dedicated to Indian textiles as a tribute to celebrate and promote Indian textiles and craftsmanship. All designers showcasing on the Indian Textile Day will promote the use of Indian textiles like khadi, jute chanderi, mashru, kota among many other vibrant Indian fabrics as well as the use of traditional Indian workmanship. This day would be curated by veteran designer Krishna Mehta.

To continue its tradition of promoting Indian fashion, creativity and commerce to the domestic and international markets, this season too, the advisory board has shortlisted seven Gen Next designers to participate. Last season witnessed a major change in ‘The Source’ with increase in number of stalls to boost trade and visibility, this season too will see a host of new activities lined up for all stakeholders as well as new marketing innovations that will help promote the platform. Another new initiative, ‘Talent Box’, that received a good response last season, will witness another successful season.
