Myntra and Harvard join hands for exclusive apparel line

Leading fashion and lifestyle e-tailer Myntra has partnered with Harvard

University to sell its exclusive apparel line in India from August this year. In the past, brands like Ralph Lauren, Nike, Champion Sportswear and Tag Heuer had designed their collections inspired by Harvard's style apart from using its name.

Through this partnership, Myntra will launch Harvard exclusively in India with a strong knits line of sweatshirts, Polos, tees, track suits in the first phase. In the second phase, Myntra will introduce a line of on-campus wear or smart casuals. The range will compete with labels like Tommy Hilfiger, UCB, VH Sport, in India. The portal already has private original brands like Roadster, Dressberry, Kook n Keech, Mast & Harbour, Anouk and HRX launched in association with actor Hrithik Roshan.

After raising 50 million dollars (over Rs 300 crores) through a deal led by PremjiInvest, owned by Wipro Chairman Azim Premji, Myntra also plans to launch a marketplace in April to allow local stores and boutiques to sell their products on the platform.

Competing not only against online players but also established retailers such as Shoppers Stop and Lifestyle, the e-tailer, currently at half the sales figure of Shoppers Stop and Lifestyle, aims to match their figures in another 15 months. The company aims to reach a turnover of Rs 1,500 crores in fiscal 2015 and grow to Rs 10,000 crores in the next three to four years.
