Skechers launches Shape-up

Thursday, 26 August 2010

Skechers, the global player in the lifestyle footwear industry, has launched the Shape-ups range for women in the Indian market. These are the latest in fitness footwear. Designed to promote weight loss, tone and firm thigh muscles, improve body posture, strengthen the back, firm calf and buttock muscles, increase cardiovascular health, reduce stress on knee and ankle joints and relieve muscle tension and fatigue.

The shoes have a dynamic rolling bottom, soft foam insert under the heel, and a dual-density midsole. These three elements work together to give a feeling of walking on soft sand – regardless of the actual surface. Walking on softer, uneven surfaces forces one to engage muscles not normally used when walking on hard ground. This strengthens muscles, increases blood flow, and reduces the impact on the joints and lower back.

Skechers USA, based in Manhattan Beach, California, design, develop and markets a diverse range of footwear for men, women and children. The company has a global network of distributors and subsidiaries in Canada, Brazil, Chile, and across Europe, as well as joint ventures in Asia. In India they have an exclusive marketing and distribution tie-up with Pairs Retail. Pairs Retail is a new entrant in the Indian lifestyle and sports business and has entered into a strategic alliance with leading retailers and distributors like Lifestyle, Kapsons, Future Group and footwear chains to market Skechers in India. Pairs propose to set up five exclusive Skechers stores in India by 2010 end. Pairs plans to enter the distribution and licensing business with other leading international brands in the lifestyle and sports segment in the near future to bring consumers a wholesome brand basket in the Indian retail space.
