Jothi K bags Van Heusen Emerging Designer Title

Under Fashion Design Council of India’s (FDCI) initiative to  promote and encourage new talent, NID Ahmedabad graduate Jothi K has been honoured as the Van Heusen Emerging Designer of the Year for 2011. She has been facilitated for her fashion collection inspired from the German School of Architecture. Judges found it difficult to choose the most eligible designer from over hundreds of entries that were sent by various fashion institutes across India. The title was up for grabs to students over 18 years and professional fashion designers with an experience of three years or less.

FDCI tries to back emerging talent through such contests and fashion designing students as well as budding designers look up to these contests since it helps in building a career path. A not for profit organization FDCI is the apex fashion council of India. Represented by over 300 designers, it takes Indian fashion global by promoting the `business of fashion’.

Van Heusen, the name behind the only men’s fashion week in India takes pride in backing the new designers since they believe that these young faces would be the pillars of Indian fashion in future.
