Manish presents model show

Ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra had the crowd eating out of his hands at a recent show he put up in Delhi. Male models wore Kashmiri-style bandhgalas and sherwanis with old-world pants and salwars. They flaunted an exquisite yet understated range of kurtas together with bandhgalas and sherwanis in structured silhouettes teamed beautifully with dhoti pants and salwars thick with chikankari work. The men’s collection was, indeed, a wealth of textures in jute and tussar silk in grey, navy blue and black with a spattering of autumn colors.

The second half of the show had women walking in grand anarkalis, kurtas and saris in signature tones of ivory and nude merged with pink, rust, brick red and burnt oranges. The nude net saris were with embellishments and Kashmiri embroidery around the bust and waist. Manish Malhotra has managed to strike the balance between designing for films and haute couture. He started his career as a model. His style is influenced by fusion wear and he favors pale, icy cream neutral, lilac and lemon for summer. He has also done wedding ensembles for wealthy families.
